Stefan Inselmann studied Fishery Biology and Marine Sciences at the Institut für Meereskunde, Kiel and Limnology at the Max-Planck-Institut für Limnologie in Plön.
Since 1996 he has been working in several curatorial positions at the world’s largest operator for public aquaria and has been finally responsible for planning and opening of new aquarium projects worldwide and has overall build some 30 public aquaria.
As of 2017 he is working with the inventor of foam fractonators and ozone used for aquaria and aquaculture on aquarium projects.
He is member of the European Union of Aquarium Curators since 1999, executive committee member since 2015.
Being an aquarist since the age of eight he has been mainly interested initially in cichlids and labyrinth fish but ever had a passion for West African cichlids.
For the last ten years he has been focussing on West African fish – maily cichlids, killis, anabantoids, syngnathids, cyprinids and characins…
In 2015 and 2018 he joined the WAC-Tours to Cameroon to explore the natural habitats of our „aquarium fish“.
